Oli & Shannon are based in Bedfordshire and wanted to get married in a marquee.
They decided against a venue as they visited a few wedding venues in their local area and every venue wasn’t quite right.
Whether it was the decor & style of the venue, or limited catering options, or the overall costs weren’t aligned with their total budget, a venue wasn’t working out for them.
They didn’t like the fact that venues forced them into using suppliers they didn’t particularly wanted to use. They wanted the free roam of choosing every single supplier for their wedding.
Oli & Shannon we’re recommended to Abacus by a friend who had used us for their wedding.
Their brief was simple: they wanted to focus on creating the most memorable evening for the friends & family. (There just happened to be a wedding during the day too!)
Oli & Shannon had 120 guests coming to the day and an additional 30 guests to the evening.
They didn’t want something too formal and traditional. The main focus was the evenings festivities.
They also wanted a location for their marquee not too far from there home, with good travel links and close to hotels.
Abacus recommended Nortonbury Spa & Events in Letchworth Garden City. Set in a five acre private garden, This venue is an ideal wedding marquee venue due to already having power & toilet facilities on site without the additional cost of bringing these in. It has ample car parking and the bride & groom had exclusive use of the venue.
Its beautiful surroundings with great backdrops including a small lake and trees for the wedding photos was the reason this was the location of choice.
The Venue
Nortonbury Events & Spa in Letchworth Garden City is an excellent wedding venue in Hertfordshire.
It boasts 5 acres of private land and already has power & toilets in situ meaning a good saving on overall hire costs.

Oli & Shannon opted for a reveal curtain to be installed in their marquee. This created a false temporary wall behind the head table hiding the dance section of the marquee.
This curtain is down for the wedding breakfast and lifted up when the evening festivities are going to start. This allows the band to set up in privacy and creates a little wonder for guestsof what is behind the curtain!
FROM DESIGN TO REALITY

Clearspan Marquees
Clearspan Marquees are a metal framed structure with no internal poles giving you maximum space to utilise. They are more versatile with more interior finishes to choose from including white/black linings & clear roofs/walls.
Sailcloth marquees are more suited to a rustic wedding with their taller peaked roofs. They do have wooden internal pole supports and suit rustic style furniture inside.
